Seoul is a city that looks toward the future, driven by innovation, technology, and rapid development. Yet beneath its modern skyline are places dedicated to remembering the struggles that shaped the nation. Among them, the War Memorial of Korea stands as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made to protect the country’s freedom and peace, representing the famous quote often associated with the Korean War, “Freedom is not free.”
Located in Yongsan, the War Memorial of Korea is one of the nation’s most significant historical museums. Opened in 1994 on the site of the former army headquarters, the museum was established to preserve Korea’s military history and honor those who served during times of conflict.
